"Hardy's Point" (sold)

Shore Path, Bar Harbor

Painting of Hardy's Point at the start of Shore Path in Bar Harbor by artist Beth Whitney | DowneastWatercolors.com

"Hardy's Point" is an original watercolor painting by Beth Whitney.

Hardy's Point is located at the beginning of Shore Path in Bar Harbor (Bar Harbor Inn is on the right, the pier is behind you). The view is looking out toward the islands in Frenchman's Bay.

Hardy's Point gets its name from the first cottager in Bar Harbor, Alpheus Hardy of Boston. His cottage, Birch Point, was built right here on the point. Hardy convinced a number of his friends to build cottages in Bar Harbor (some along Shore Path). He also built Ullikana, now a beautiful bed & breakfast.

I painted another view of Shore Path, showing the view from further down the path, looking back. You'll recognize the white fence and the two trees in the distance. The original painting has sold, but I have giclee prints available.
