"Owls Head Light"

Owls Head, Maine

Painting of Owls Head Light in late summer by Beth Whitney

"Owls Head Light" is an original watercolor painting by Beth Whitney featuring the midcoast lighthouse in late summer.

Located at the head of Rockland Harbor's southern entrance, Owls Head Light has so many great angles to paint. This particular view is from near the base of the stairs, looking up. I love the reflections of the sky on the door.

The lighthouse is part of a park with several trails and spectacular views. You can take your lunch and make a day of it, walking up to the lighthouse, head down to the beach on the other side for a sea glass hunt, or just watch boats sailing by.

I've painted Owls Head quite a few times over the years.  Owls Head Lighthouse shows the view from the the top of the hill, looking over toward Rockland Harbor. You can see more original paintings of lighthouses in my Lighthouse Paintings Gallery.
