"Redwood Garden" (sold)

Bar Harbor, Maine

Watercolor painting of a Redwood Gatehouse garden and seagull in Bar Harbor, Maine by artist Beth Whitney | DowneastWatercolors.com

"Redwood Garden" is an original watercolor painting by Beth Whitney featuring a garden from one of the old Bar Harbor cottage estates.

Redwood cottage was the first Shingle Style cottage designed by architect William Ralph Emerson. The original house is still standing, but the two main outbuildings are part of a separate property now (same place, just detached). I visited on a garden tour years ago and decided to use some artistic license to put the garden on the water (serious pruning). It's a wonderful garden.
