"Stone Barn on Crooked Road"

Salsbury Cove, Maine

Painting of the Stone barn on Crooked Road in Salsbury Cove, Maine, by artist Beth Whitney | DowneastWatercolors.com

"Stone Barn on Crooked Road" is an original Maine watercolor landscape painting by Beth Whitney.

The Stone Barn Farm is a well-known landmark situated near the intersection of Crooked Road and Norway Drive in Salsbury Cove on Mount Desert Island, Maine. It's on the National Register of Historic Places. Just look at the details - it's a gorgeous barn. The owners used to plant sunflowers out front, which were so beautiful against the barn's exterior.

I've painted the stone barn about 5-6 times, including Stone Barn in Winter and Summer Phlox, which features another barn on the property with the wonderful golden field in the back.

My Landscapes Gallery has more paintings of barns and other scenic subjects in Maine.

This original watercolor painting includes a classic double white archival mat and backing board in a crystal clear protective closure sleeve. It's ready to slip into a standard 12x16" frame (not included).

The pictures below will help you visualize the matted painting and give you ideas for choosing a frame. I recommend taking it with you when you go frame shopping so you can test drive several profiles and find one that speaks to you. I think a rustic wood frame would look great, especially displayed on a brick wall or over a stone fireplace.
