"Birch Trees" is an original watercolor painting by Maine artist Beth Whitney.
A shady stand of white paper birches flanks a rustic old weathered barn. I love the light on this painting - it's cool and shady under the trees, but warm and summery around the barn. The dappled light from the birches really adds movement and life to the scene. The purple flowers in the front are monkshood. This barn is located in midcoast Maine, near Waldoboro.
My Landscapes Gallery has more paintings of barns and other landscape scenes.
