"Blue Hill Harbor in Winter"
Blue Hill, Maine
"Blue Hill Harbor in Winter" shows the view looking across the harbor from Parker Point Road in Blue Hill, Maine. The original watercolor painting is by Beth Whitney.
Blue Hill is one of the prettiest villages in Maine. It's quiet, low-key, has wonderful architecture, and some of the most beautiful seascape views. This view is from one of my favorite photographing routes that starts in Surry and ends in Deer Isle. Parker Point Road is a must, especially for this view of the harbor and the village beyond.
People sometimes think of winter as being kind of dull, but the ice captures so much color and reflects a veritable rainbow of colors. I'm fascinated by how the ice captures the tide in jagged textures.
My Seascapes Gallery has more dynamic watercolor paintings of Acadia National Park and other coastal locations.
Watercolor on paper | $425 matted
Image: 10x14" | Size matted: 16x20"
This original watercolor painting includes a classic double white archival mat and backing board in a crystal clear protective closure sleeve. It's ready to slip into a standard 16x20" frame (not included).
The pictures below will help you visualize the matted painting and give you ideas for choosing a frame. I recommend taking it with you when you go frame shopping so you can test drive several profiles and find one that speaks to you. I think a gray driftwood frame would be perfect for this, displayed over a love seat.
