Acadia National Park, Maine
"The Bubbles" is an original Maine watercolor painting by Beth Whitney.
This painting features The Bubbles and Jordan Pond as seen from the lawn at the Jordan Pond House in Acadia National Park. I love the wildflowers (mainly Queen Anne's Lace) contrasting with the grass and rocks.
You're looking at two mountains, North and South Bubble. My favorite hike in Acadia is on North Bubble. It has this marvelous ledge that's just out of sight from the main path, and has spectacular views over the pond and the Atlantic beyond. It feels like you're floating over the pond. Most people take the south trail to see the Balance Rock (visible from the Park Loop Road), so this seems to have less traffic.
My Landscapes Gallery has more paintings of Acadia National Park and other coastal locations.
Watercolor on paper | $350 matted
Image: 8x12" | Size matted: 12x16"
This original watercolor painting includes a classic double white archival mat and backing board in a crystal clear protective closure sleeve. It's ready to slip into a standard 12x16" frame (not included).
The pictures below will help you visualize the matted painting and give you ideas for choosing a frame. I recommend taking it with you when you go frame shopping so you can test drive several profiles and find one that speaks to you. I think a warm wood or metal frame would really enhance the rocks and wildflowers in the foreground.
