"The Carrying Place"

Brooklin, Maine

Painting of The Carrying Place in Brooklin, Maine by artist Beth Whitney | DowneastWatercolors.com

"The Carrying Place" is an original Maine watercolor painting by Beth Whitney.

This sunny spot near Brooklin, Maine features a lovely stream meandering through the trees with fresh spring leaves, grass, and little white flowers. It feels like it's either going to rain or is just about to.

Wouldn't you love to get in your kayak and explore? This is actually a tidal inlet (not freshwater).  If you followed it to the right, you'd be looking at the ocean. Maine is full of carrying places like this.

My Landscapes Gallery has more paintings of lush trees and pastoral scenes.

Watercolor on paper | $350 matted
Image: 8x12" | Size matted: 12x16"

This original watercolor painting includes a classic double white archival mat and backing board in a crystal clear protective closure sleeve. It's ready to slip into a standard 12x16" frame (not included).

The pictures below will help you visualize the matted painting and give you ideas for choosing a frame. I recommend taking it with you when you go frame shopping so you can test drive several profiles and find one that speaks to you. I love the idea of a cool pewter frame, displayed in a mudroom over a coatrack or shelf.
