"Lily Pond"

Northeast Harbor, Maine

Original painting by Beth Whitney of the lily pond with pink rhododendrons at Asticou Azalea Garden in Northeast Harbor, Maine. | DowneastWatercolors.com

"Lily Pond" is an original watercolor painting featuring one of the ponds at the Asticou Azalea Garden in Northeast Harbor, Maine

On the left is the lily pond with fabulous reflections, pink rhododendrons, and a dense green canopy overhead. The pond is shallow, so you can see the warm muddy bottom as well as the trees reflecting on the surface (fairly tricky to paint).

The path continues to the main pond that fronts Peabody Drive (Rt 3) and the Asticou Inn beyond. Directly behind you is the bridge featured in another painting/print (The Japanese Lantern). This has to be one of the most tranquil paintings I've ever done. You can literally hear the stillness in the air. It has to do with the perfectly still water and the lush greens.

This original watercolor painting includes a classic double white archival mat and backing board in a crystal clear protective closure sleeve. It's ready to slip into an 18x24" frame (not included).

This would make a wonderful gift for someone who loves gardens.

Open edition giclee prints are also available of this painting.
