"Little Long Pond View"
Seal Harbor, Maine
"Little Long Pond View" is an original Maine watercolor painting by Beth Whitney.
Paintings of Little Long Pond usually focus on the water, largely because of the wonderful reflections and waterlilies that thrive here. There are also reeds and grasses, roses and other wild shrubs along the perimeter of the pond. For this painting, I decided to show a panoramic view of both fields with the wonderful boathouse nestled in the trees. The photo was taken in August, when the lilies are still out and the fields have a touch of gold. I love the intimacy of this particular perspective.
I have seen so much wildlife around this pond. I've seen deer, porcupines, turtles, snakes, peregrin falcons, eagles, ducks, and many songbirds. Once, I rescued a baby robin from the pine tree on the right edge (with help from some wonderful volunteer firefighters).
My Landscapes Gallery has more paintings of scenic inland locations.
