Acadia National Park, Maine
"Ocean Drive" is an original watercolor painting by Beth Whitney showing the rocky shoreline in Acadia National Park, Maine.
This is the view along the rocks on Ocean Drive, looking back toward Sand Beach and Great Head, Champlain & Beehive Mountains on the left. Thunder Hole is behind me a little ways. If you look carefully, you will see the coping stones that line the Park Loop Road. I love how the granite really came alive with texture and wonderful details (the key is using tiny brushes).
People sometimes use "Park Loop Road" and "Ocean Drive" interchangeably, but the Loop road really goes from the park entrance in Hulls Cove for the whole 27 mile ride, looping back to the start. Ocean Drive is the stretch that goes close to the water (Thunder Hole, Otter Cliff, Sand Beach, etc.).
Open edition giclee prints are also available of this painting in the Downeast Watercolors shop on Etsy.
My Seascapes Gallery has more dynamic watercolor paintings of Acadia National Park, rocks, and surf.
