"Owls Head Lighthouse"

Owls Head, Maine

Painting of Owls Head Lighthouse by Beth Whitney | DowneastWatercolors.com

"Owls Head Lighthouse" is an original Maine watercolor painting by Beth Whitney.

Located at the Head of Rockland Harbor in midcoast Maine, Owls Head Lighthouse features excellent views of the open sea. This view is from the top of the hill (take the stairs) by the trees. It's a great shot and funny to see people lined up to get it.Periodically during the summer, visitors may go inside the lighthouse tower and see even more. It's a beautiful location with many lovely flowers during the summer months.

I have another view of Owls Head Light from about halfway up the stairs, as well as a view of Owls Head from the water, looking up.

Definitely take the trail down to the beach, which has picnic tables and places to sit and relax. There are lots of day sails and working fishing boats going in and out of the harbor. You can look across to Rockport and Camden Hills beyond (bring binoculars and a camera)
