"Sailboat in the Cove"

Downeast, Maine

Painting by Beth Whitney of a "Sailboat in the Cove" with lush trees and lupine in the background | DowneastWatercolors.com

"Sailboat in the Cove" is an original watercolor seascape painting by Beth Whitney.

This seascape painting shows a crisp white sailboat moored in a quiet cove in Downeast Maine. I timed this just right: The lupine are blooming, the rocks are golden brown, the water tranquil and welcoming, and the sailboat just happened to pose for me (with a red sail cover even!). My favorite part of the painting is the smooth line of reflection on the upper right. It was a lovely scene to happen upon.

My Seascapes Gallery has more dynamic watercolor paintings of rocky coves and beaches.

This original watercolor painting includes a classic double white archival mat and backing board in a crystal clear protective closure sleeve. It's ready to slip into a standard 12x16" frame (not included).

The pictures below will help you visualize the matted painting and give you ideas for choosing a frame. I recommend taking it with you when you go frame shopping so you can test drive several profiles and find one that speaks to you. I think a medium wood or muted gold frame would be perfect.
