Asticou Azalea Garden
"Stone Bridge" is an original Maine watercolor painting by Beth Whitney.
This view of the Asticou Azalea Garden looks over the stone bridge and the left side of the garden and beyond. The pond and bridge are visible from Peabody Drive (Rt 3), just across from the Asticou Inn on Mount Desert Island. The first few weeks in June is my favorite time to visit this garden because most of the azaleas and rhododentrons are in some stage of blooming. Of course, it's beautiful anytime of year.
This is the opposite view from my "Spring's Promise" painting, which gives a better view of the waterfall and stream. It's neat how the views are so different side to side. "Lily Pond" and "Japanese Lantern" paintings feature views from the other side of the garden.
The Garden Paintings Gallery has more colorful flowers and gardens along the coast of Maine.
