"Downy Woodpecker"

Ellsworth, Maine

Red, black, and white downy woodpecker perches on a branch.

"Downy Woodpecker" is an original Maine watercolor painting by Beth Whitney.

This painting shows a handsome Downy Woodpecker grabbing some lunch from his favorite pecking tree. Isn't he gorgeous? I secretly named him Woodrow because he has a slightly austere look about him. My dad took the original reference photo while birdwatching in Ellsworth, Maine.

This bird painting would be a perfect gift for someone who loves birds. It has a spring feel about it with the colors. I think it would look great in your entryway or kitchen decor, bringing the outdoors inside.

My Landscapes Gallery has more paintings of birds and scenic locations in Maine.

$385 matted / $460 framed

This original watercolor painting includes a classic double white archival mat and backing board.  It's ready to slip into a standard 12x16" frame (easy to find).

I am also happy to frame it for you in a contemporary silver metal frame with conservation grade non-glare, UV glazing.

Framing is a nice option if you're sending the painting to someone as a gift.  Buying a matted painting is also wonderful because the recipient can choose the frame that suits their taste.
