"Laudholm Farm Wildflowers"

Wells, Maine

Watercolor painting of Laudholm Farm Wildflowers by Beth Whitney | Downeast Watercolors

"Laudholm Farm Reserve" is an original Maine watercolor painting by Beth Whitney.  This view looks up the hill

This beautiful hillside covered in wildflowers is located at the Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve (Wells Reserve for short) at Laudholm Farm. This is the very end of the full circuit of trails (begin at Saw Whet, hug the shore, and end up here). This particular stretch is the Muskie Trail, looking up toward the house and water tower.  Just behind where I'm standing is a field full of milkweed and monarch butterflies.  The tower is actually 35' tall, so you get a sense of how massive the old pine is beside it.

Laudholm Farm has a wonderful history and such beautiful architecture. Even the milk barns are lovely. Many people just head straight to Laudholm Beach, but I encourage you to take your time exploring all of the trails. It's one of my favorite places to visit in Southern Maine.

My Landscapes Gallery has more paintings of Acadia National Park and other scenic locations in Maine.
