"Pemaquid Fog House"

Bristol, Maine

Watercolor painting of Great Head and Sand Beach in Acadia National Park Maine by artist Beth Whitney | Downeast Watercolors

"Pemaquid Fog House" is an original Maine watercolor painting by Beth Whitney.

This painting shows the view of the red brick fog house with the warning bell and tower behind.  The buildings are really perched right on the edge of the cliff, in front of the lighthouse (which is hiding behind them from this view).

I'm actually balancing on the white ridge-back rock that goes from the house all the way down to the tip of Pemaquid Point, disappearing into the sea.  It's more vertigo-inspiring if you face the point.  I like this perspective because you can see the surf crashing beyond as well as the roses all along the point.  The light and hazy clouds starting to gather are so peaceful.  It's such a beautiful spot!

My Lighthouses Gallery has more scenic lighthouse paintings from along the coast of Maine.  I'm steadily working on a series of New England lighthouses.

Giclee prints will be available soon.

This original watercolor painting includes a classic double white archival mat and backing board in a crystal clear protective closure sleeve. It's ready to slip into a standard 16x20" frame (not included, but easy to find).  I recommend using UV glass to protect the vibrancy of colors.
